Hamilton County R3Source offers grants for communities, schools, non-profit organizations, and businesses.  

  1. Residential Recycling Incentive (RRI)
  2. Waste Reduction Innovation Grant
  • Open to communities to receive funds for waste reduction-related projects  
  • Funding based on community diversion rate and the tons recycled
  • Local governments in Hamilton County fill out an annual application to report tons recycled, composted and landfilled the previous year

Ohio EPA Recycling and Litter Prevention Grants

The Ohio EPA’s Recycling and Litter Prevention program offers large-scale, competitive grants to support communities, businesses and academic institutions that initiate or expand recycling programs, stimulate economic growth, and support litter prevention efforts.   • Open to local governments and nonprofits
  • The grant cycle for 2023 opens November 7th, 2022, and applications are due February 3rd, 2023
  • Maximum grant request ranges from $3,000 to $200,000 depending on the project  
  • Grant funds recycling equipment, curbside and drop-off recycling programs, special venue recycling, outreach and education, contamination reduction, tire amnesty events, surveillance cameras, litter clean-up and more.  
  • 25% cash/credit match required 
  • 50% of grant funds released on July 1 and remaining funds released after closeout report approved by OEPA  
  • Grantees have 12 months to complete the project
