[ARCHIVED] Ozone Season 2022

The Southwest Ohio Air Quality Agency’s seven ozone monitors collect data 24 hours a day. Ozone monitors are located throughout the four-county region of Butler, Clermont, Hamilton, and Warren counties. Agency staff analyzes ozone concentrations and issues Air Quality Alerts when the ozone levels are forecasted to reach levels unhealthy for sensitive groups.

An Air Quality Alert is a public service message that includes health-based recommendations for children, the elderly, and those with respiratory issues. Air Quality Advisories raise the public’s awareness of how they can help reduce emissions through simple, every day habits. The Agency encourages residents to:

  • Make a mindful effort to not idle their vehicles at schools, recreation centers, parks, libraries, and other places where they may be dropping off/picking up their children.
  • Refuel after 6 p.m., when daytime temperatures begin to drop and the vapors from gasoline are less reactive to sunlight and heat.
  • Conserve energy by turning off lights and unplugging unused appliances and electronics. This may also help reduce one’s energy bill.

For daily Air Quality Index information, residents may call the Air Quality Index phone recording at (513) 946-7753 or our Current Air Quality webpage
